Self-employed and entrepreneurs must pay considerably higher social security contributions in 2017. The increase is due to the projected average earnings in the economy this year. The amount of tax on the national budget is 4,263.00 PLN. That is 208.00 PLN more than last year.

The PiS government to introduce a new minimum hourly wage scheme
As announced in the election manifesto the PiS government introduced a draft law, which should be introduced from 1st July, 2016, the introduction of a statutory minimum hourly wage. The minimum hourly performed wage amounts to 12 Polish zloty (around 3 euros).

Unemployment rate, for the first time at single-digit level
In September 2015, the official unemployment rate, for the first time in 7 years, reached the single-digit level of 9.9%. But within this figure, regional differences can be seen. In Lower Silesia unemployment was 9%, the lowest in Poland since 1999.
Any company which organises an event can offset the expenses for tax purposes
Any company which organises a company event can offset the expenses occurred under certain conditions for tax purposes. By contrast, an employee who participates in a business celebration or event should not receive any monetary benefit, which would then be taxable.
