From 14% unemployed, 9.8% is determined to find a job
In January 2014, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) has advised the unemployment rate of 14%, compared to 14.2% in January 2013. In the first month of this year, 2.26 million people who are able to work were registered at the labour offices, 35,100 less than a year ago. The highest unemployment rates are in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie region (22.4%), Kujawsko-Pomorskie region (18.8%) and Zachodnio-Pomorskie region (18.7%).
The lowest rate is registered in the following regions: Greater Poland (10%), Masovian (11.4%) and Silesian (11.7%). The unemployment rate is specified by GUS, even after a system of the International Labour Organisation, BAEL, where the would-be unemployed are excluded. Thus, only a quota of 9.8% for Poland was determined to find a job for the second half of 2013. (Source: AHK, newsletter of 28 February, 2014)
